5 things I am doing well at

Hey readers,

Today I am writing about things that have being go well for me at the moment. It is good to take some time out and reflect on the positives as we all can get in a bit of a pattern and forgot about the good stuff that we have achieved.

journey 1

Firstly, this may seem trivial but for me it is really important as most of my life I have struggled with insomnia and getting to sleep due to anxiety. Recently, I have been getting some good night sleep, which has made a huge difference to my mental health. It really does help with making you feel more better especially thinking more logically and getting less emotional about certain things in my life.

I suppose the next point kinda connects to the last positive in that I have been staying calmer more especially when sometimes I may blow up or struggle to deal with change. I really struggle with change especially when it is unexpected but I have learnt to a little walk away and use distraction techniques.

journey 3

I have re-developed my love for colouring as a way to not only relax for me but also doing it with my eldest also helps me too. Not to mention the fact that doing an activity together has helped our bond and created some calm down which had a ripple effect on the rest of the day. I have found it is a great way to connect to my son as it something just for us on a Sunday so makes it special for him.

journey 2

The final positive achievement I have done recently is adding more exercise to help tone my body up and make me feel less ugh. I find regular exercise helps give me a bit more energy and again has helped as a way to get rid of some of the daily frustrations I am faced with.

Cool for cats

Hey readers,

You can learn a lot about cats about how to live a more relaxed life. I hate being human sometimes, I just doubt everything in my tiny little mind. I dread Friday is the worst, it is like I have had a whole week to beat myself up on not being good enough.

CAT 3

Why do ‘some’ of us torture ourselves, we think we are weak when really we must be strong to get through this personal torment. There are days when all I would love to do is sit back in my hammock and just forget everything.  I know, I know I think too much, that is always been my downfall. I am just so glad for summer holidays, I am exhausted from worrying about not being good enough parent.

CAT 1

I hate failure, we all fear it but if asked what is success, I wouldn’t be able to tell you so how can I fail if I don’t know what the alternative is?!

Life is much simpler being a cat, all you need to worry about is the small stuff like finding a place that is warm and sunshine touching your fur. How amazing would that be to have to care in the world. Maybe I should ask my husband because he is an expert in it.

Being a cat has so many benefits such as, getting rent free, being able to sleep as much as you want and have the freedom to roam about and piss on your territory . I would definitely be up for that, haha. Even if people annoy you, you cats can walk away and not give a damn, that must be so liberating not caring what other people think. There is no drama about being fat and what worrying about how people view you, you just prance about in your fur all day, look great with no effort whatsoever.

CAT 2

Told you cats have it great, we can learn a thing or too.

I now leave you on a final quote:

Cats are connoisseurs of comfort.

Save some cash this Summer

Hey Readers,

We are in the mist of sale season so what better time then now to grab a bargain. I have checked some of the hot deals that are currently available online. There is so many items whether it be homeware, accessories or clothes the world is your oyster on this site!

In this post I have selected five items that tickle my fancy. Check out on these corkers of a bargain down below.

2) The second item is a Vivienne Westwood  hali checked taffeta dress. Was €498.00 now you can get it for €249.00. I love the fit and it looks so floaty as well.

3) Look at this beautiful long, red jumpsuit from Dorothy Perkins.  It is a cracking bargain as you can still wear it during autumn/ winter by layering it up. It costs now £17.99 and the original price was £29.99.

4) Is this classic Fred Perry gingham shirt. I just love gingham and it looks really funky in a shirt. It did cost £59.99,  now cost £41.99.

What I love about all these items is they will have plenty of wear and I can wear them through out the year sbd wear them for a good few years, which makes this frugal person very happy indeed.

Why I disagree with buying teachers presents

Hey readers,

It is the summer holiday break up today and as I took my son to school I witnessed the amount of presents a lot of parents brought with them to hand out to the teachers.

I be honest, I don’t believe in giving teachers presents because for one I am forced to take my child to school and ok I could go down the route of home schooling but I am just capable and I want to give my son the best opportunities.  I am a strong believer in giving people the choice and it feels a little bit false, in the fact that there is pressure from Clintons etc. I believe in choice and it just feels like you have to do it.

Part of me sees it as a competition from parents to get the present (but that is a whole new political post of its own). I wonder whether there is a bit of arse linking because if they are giving praise etc. it can influence how they view the child.

OK, now it’s that some are genuine and what to do something to say thank you to their teacher for helping their child. But what happens if you don’t have the funds and some people can’t even afford a spare quid, so don’t give me that one.

thank you techer

Why do we have to buy material stuff, ok it is easier to buy a box of chocolates, it just seems that to say thank you to the teacher to buy them stuff. It is peer pressures at its finest, if you haven’t brought a teacher something then there is a change you feel guilty or embarrassed. I don’t think parents should have to feel like this but I know some people do.

So, therefore I believe that it should be band to buy stuff for teachers as parents have enough stuff to buy and find the money (I know this struggle I have been there it makes you feel totally crap as a parent).

How to be content

Hey readers,

In this day and age it is hard not to compare yourself.  I for one am guilty of this, it is so easy to assume that one has it all whilst you feel like you are floating above water.

We can forget that what you see with your eyes on the surface may not be the actually truth. How can possible know everything about someone when we only see a glimpse.

abstract 3

That is why it is important to look for content within and not on unrealistic ideas that assume make other happy.

Sometimes you can fall under the trap of negativity, where all you see is the bad stuff. That is why it is important to take stock of what is good in life. No one has it all but I am a true believer in that there is one good thing in life even if it is small.

Today I felt sad as if my life is going anyway. I could continue down the negative spiral but won’t get me anywhere, it will just make me feel ten times worse.

abstract 2

The things I have succeeded in is getting up and making sure my children are well and happy. I have read a book and even writing this post is productive.

I think it is important to accept the things you do have and not dwell. Being content with yourself so a hard thing to achieve when there are so many messages everywhere telling us to be like this or that. You feel like you are questioning everything.

abstract 1

I think the main that I have learnt in my adult life is meaning and the value you put on something. I think that is the powerful thing. If you let go of connecting to something you would be amazed at how little impact it has on you.

I think the thing that is key in being content is questioning everything and working out what it means to you. Deep down is it really important to you?

Showcase Cinema De Lux Lanch

Hey readers,

Last night I was lucky enough to attend the Launch Night at Coventry Showcase Cinema De Lux.  The event took place to celebrate the new make over and a change to test out the new XPLUS auditorium.

Before the film there was drinks and canapes on offer. The lobby area had improved drastically since the last time that I had been to Showcase Cinema. Much more inviting and it felt an area where you could relax before the film.

There is a bar in the lobby area which offers alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. On the other side of the lobby there is a Costa coffee, with comfortable seating area so you can relax. There is also a upgrade concessions stand, a coke free style machine and a Tango Ice Blast Pod (which to seems to be really popular).

The lighting and decor has a more sophisticated and relax appeal to it, making you feel much more at ease and relaxed before the film viewing.

What does the XPLUS auditorium consist of you ask, well for starters it has an impressive wall to wall screen with a digital projection  making the picture much more crisper and detail is phenomena I found out whilst watching Transformers: The Last Knight.

Let’s not forget the 360 Dolby Atmos Sound system – so there were 60 speakers across the walls and above the ceiling creating amazing sound giving that extra involvement when watching the film.

Film fans celebrate the opening of the newly refurbished Showcase Cinema, rebranded into a flagship Showcase Cinema de Lux.

The chairs have all been updated in the cinema giving a much more comfort place to rest whilst watching the film. They are leather recliner seats which you can get control with the the buttons on the panel at the right hand of the chair. There is enough room for cups to place in the holder, I have been to other cinemas and the larger cups are really difficult to put in the holder, small things make a huge different to the experience.

One thing that I noticed is the lightening around the lights is lower and a cool calm feel to the atmosphere. Where as before it was bright and instantly hit your eyes, not very pleasant when you have been in the dark for a good old hour and half.

The space in the alleys of the cinema is spacious, none of this treading on people’s toast business which makes it less stressful when visiting the cinema.

There is two car parks so plenty of space and it is free which is an added bonus.

Definitely recommend going to try out the XPLUS because it feels so luxurious and so you get thew comfortable therefore getting the relaxed experience.

I was invited to attend the Showcase De Lux and watch the Transformers film in the XPLUS auditorium. However, all opinions expressed are entirely my own.
