citric acid and bicarbonate of soda reaction {science experiment}

Hey readers,

Today we decided to do a simple science experiment to see what happens when you mix bicarbonate of soda, citric acid and water.

It is a really fun and quick activity to do with children and doesn’t take too much effort to put together.

What we used for the experiment is:

  • Few drops of red colouring
  • 2 teaspoons of bicarbonate of soda
  • 2 teaspoons of citric acid
  • One cup of water drizzled on

It’s probably best to do the experiment in the bath so everything’s all in one place to keep tidy, especially if you are using food colouring.

Place the citrus acid and bicarbonate of soda into a cup.

Put the food colouring in first or last. Then what ever you decide then add the water.

Make sure you move out of the aware as the end result will end in a fizz explosion.

The boys really enjoyed this as they got to poarticiapre and see the effects of the reactions of chemicals. (endothemic).

Cheers for reading X
